Amouage was founded 25 years ago by His Highness Sayyid Hamad bin Hamoud al bu Said on the request of His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said, the ruler of the Sultanate of Oman, to reflect the wonderful heritage and tradition of his country for creating the finest, exotic and unusual perfumes and for giving them as gifts to honoured guests. It was also their intention to tell the world about the ingredients particularly found in Oman - the rarest frankincense from Dhofar in the south of the country and the rarest rose of all, the rock rose harvested high up in the mountains of the Jebel Akhdar range towering over the Sultanate's beautiful capital, Muscat. Today the House is led by its Chairman, Sayyid Khalid bin Hamad bin Hamoud al bu Said, a son of the founder, who is dedicated to leading the House to still greater international success and to continuing the development of new and exciting products without ever compromising in quality and to remain using only the finest ingredients available. In 2008 the House Amouage will come of age and celebrate its 25th Anniversary year and this had proved a pertinent time to update the brand's identity to reflect more accurately the tastes and needs of the contemporary global consumer. The aim is to build upon the success of the brand and to form a bridge of continuity between what has gone before and that which is to come, without ever forgetting the brand's roots in its home of Oman.
